Digitization Service

Turn your paper logbooks into
searchable digital records

Snap photos of your logbook pages, upload them, and our team will use advanced OCR followed by human verification of every single entry to produce accurate, structured maintenance records in your SquawkFree account.

How it works

Three steps to get your entire maintenance history digitized.

1

Photograph Your Pages

Take pictures of every page of your airframe and engine logbooks. Your phone camera works great — just make sure to use a dark background for best results.

2

Upload & Submit

Upload your photos in the app, mark each page as airframe or engine, and submit the job for processing.

3

We Digitize

Our team processes your pages using advanced OCR, then a human reviews every single entry before it's committed to your digital logbook. Typical turnaround is 1–2 weeks.

What you get back

OCR + Human Verification

Every page is processed with advanced OCR to extract text, then each individual entry is reviewed and verified by a human before being committed to your digital logbook.

Cleaned-Up Page Images

Every page you upload is denoised, cropped, and enhanced to scan-like quality. Each cleaned-up image is linked to the records it contains, so you can always see the original source for any entry.

Structured Records

Flights, maintenance, inspections, AD compliance, and mechanic sign-offs are transcribed into structured digital records — searchable, filterable, and always accessible.

1–2 Week Turnaround

Most jobs are completed within 1–2 weeks. You'll receive status updates as your job moves through processing, and an email when your records are ready.

Tips for taking great photos

Good photos make for faster, more accurate digitization. Here are a few simple tips to get the best results.

Use a dark background

Place your logbook page on a dark surface (a dark desk, black fabric, or a dark-colored folder). This creates contrast that makes it much easier to detect page edges and produce clean, properly cropped images.

Even lighting, no shadows

Use even, diffused light. Avoid harsh overhead lighting that casts shadows across the page. Natural daylight from a window works well — just make sure your hand or phone isn't casting a shadow on the text.

Shoot straight down

Hold your phone directly above the page and shoot straight down. Angled shots cause perspective distortion that makes text harder to read, especially in the corners.

Keep the page flat and in focus

Make sure the page is fully flat (press down curling edges if needed) and that your camera has focused before taking the shot. Blurry or warped text is the #1 cause of OCR issues.
